John Healey helped get proceedings underway for this year’s Santa Dash around Manvers Lake.

The Wentworth and Dearne MP set runners on their way at the weekend (Saturday 16th December) as they raised funds for cancer charity Team Verrico.

Once again runners took part in the family friendly fun run in memory of Hana Szczepkowski who sadly died of cancer aged only 31.

The Santa Dash aims to bring the community together and keep Hana’s memory alive, whilst raising funds for the charity who gave her hope and support throughout her illness.

John Healey MP said: “It was great to see so many people taking part in the Santa Dash at Manvers Lake raising funds in memory of Hana for the cancer charity Team Verrico.

“The dash is something I always look forward to coming along to and it really kicks off the festive season.

“Thank you to everyone involved in organising such a fantastic community event.”

Competitors took part in a fun run which was one lap around the lake while others that took part in the Santa Dash were able to do 1,2 or 3 laps.
